What are sway bar links?:

Most people upgrading their cars now-a-days are aware that sway bars are torsion beams that are designed to help a car corner flatter, thereby increasing the handling ability. By mounting to the chassis and the suspension, as one arm moves up the opposing arm imparts a force resisting that movement. The sway bar usually attaches the the chassis in the center area with bushings and D-shaped brackets. The ends of the sway bar attach to some part of the dynamic suspension, on a bracket on a strut, control arm, or hub carrier through the employment of what is referred to as a sway bar end link.

Conventional sway bar end-links from a late-model Acura are usually steel with a ball-joint at the ends to accommodate articulation of the suspension. The threaded studs are secured to the sway bar and suspension with locking nuts. A Fastline Performance Adjustable POWERLINK is made of superior materials, provides greater strength, and better range of motion.

What improvements are made with Fastline Performance Adjustable POWERLINKS?:

  • Ease of installation: OEM links have only an internal hex on the stud, severely limiting tool choice and placement when tightening, and impeding sufficient torque input on the fasteners. The result: clunks and rattles from the suspension, and increased likeliness of stripping. Fastline Performance Adjustable POWERLINKS provide multiple square and hex points to effectively hold the link and stud in place while tightening, in addition to an internal hex at the stud ends. The nylon locking nuts cinch down on thick 3mm washers.
  • Suspension Tuning: With conventional links, the sway bar is always working to keep the control arms level. Even the simple act of placing a driver in the seat will cause compression on one side of the car and induce a pre-load on the sway bar, which can throw off the balance of the car. As such Fastline Performance Adjustable POWERLINKS will allow a tuner to pre-load the sway bar in the neutral state to gain balance with the presence of a driver.
  • Corner-weighting tune-ability: Additional to achieving balance with a driver, a suspension tuner can now more effectively corner-balance the chassis for all other variable in chassis weight distribution. A battery on one side of the car will bias the weight, and now that weight bias can be compensated for with Adjustable POWERLINKS.
  • Tuning for a specific condition: Some circuits contain corners where it is optimal to tune the suspension to optimize lap times. Especially effective on oval-type tracks or corners which are long sweepers, Adjustable POWERLINKS are the answer to achieving the perfect chassis setup.
  • Compensating for Vehicle Lowering: When the vehicle is lowered the orientation of the sway bar moves from its natural position. This movement can again induce an unwanted pre-load in the sway bar which will adversely impact the neutrality of the handling. Adjustable POWERLINKS will allow the tuner to move the sway bar into an ideal neutral or preloaded position independent from the height of the suspension.
  • Strength and Longer life: Fastline Performance Adjustable POWERLINKS feature THK Ball Links over conventional ball-joints. Each THK Ball Link is composed of a high-precision ball bearing, a die-cast holder, and a shank connected to the ball by a special welding method. Through a unique production process, the mirror surface of the ball bearing is copied onto the inner mounting surface for perfect contact between them, achieving outstanding wear resistance, exceedingly smooth motion, and high strength. Capping off the ball is a special boot which provides a tight seal against elements in addition to allowing a wide range of motion. The result is the strongest and most efficient silent link assembly available.
  • Separate components available: OEM 1-piece must be completely replaced if they are damaged or stripped. Fastline Performance Adjustable POWERLINKS can be disassembled with parts replaced as needed.
  • Corrosion Resistance: OEM links have raw steel studs and nuts whcih are prone to corrosion and stripping. All components of Fastline Performance Adjustable POWERLINKS are either non-corrosive aircraft grade aluminum, stainless steel, or zinc-coated steel.
